I have been a Ph.D. student at the Institute for Educational Rehabilitation at the Martin-Luther-University in Halle-Wittenberg since 2012.
Concerning  my dissertation "Professional teaching, teacher’s beliefs and diversity in the classroom - an international point of view for future attitudes and practices of teaching" I moved to the United States of America  (Washington, D.C./ Pennsylvania) and to Canada (New Brunswick) for field research in 2013. For the process of data collection for the main study I was looking for secondary schools including the educational staff, students and parents belonging to that school. That way I expected to learn more about different perspectives and experiences dealing with diversity in the classroom and in societies with existing inclusive educational systems.

I studied business administration and mathematics at my hometown Hannover. During that time I had a stay abroad at Lappeenranta University of Technology in Finland. Now I’m a phd student at MLU Halle-Wittenberg at the School of Business and Economics. My field of research is heavy tailed distributions in financial markets. In the beginning of 2013 I was staying at Senshu University in Japan, one of MLU’s partner universities, for a visiting research. Although previously I had some doubts, I am very happy now that I took this chance. Staying abroad is not just solely for creating value for a thesis or CV. I think it can be a very important step in one’s personal development.
