Martin Luther University is committed to high-quality theoretical research as well as to the transfer of knowledge and technology. One of the aims of research at the University is to identify and work on problems and topics that lead to innovations and inventions. The members of the Research Department advise and support researchers and companies seeking to cooperate in scientific research and development. They are specialists in the fields of:

- Protection of Industrial Property
- Protection of Inventions (Patent Protection)
- Establishing Contact with Companies, Institutions and Technology
Transfer Centres - Fairs, Exhibitions, and Events
- Management of Research Projects.

Service for Entrepreneurs
UNIVATIONS is a network for the realisation of inventions and the establishment of new businesses. It supports students, graduates, and research staff in the universities of Saxony-Anhalt on their way to economic independence – free of charge. From commercial planning to financial questions, the UNIVATIONS team offers assistance with all problems that go along with the whole process of starting a new business. To make sure the future founders receive high-quality, practice-oriented advice, UNIVATIONS collaborates with more than 20 partners from economic and scientific backgrounds. The work of UNIVATIONS is financed by the state of Saxony-Anhalt and the European Union.
