Residence Permit for Germany
As a citizen of the EU and the European Economic Area you do not need a visa or residence permit to enter Germany. By registering your place of residence with the Citizens' Service, you enjoy freedom of movement for workers, i.e. you do not need permission to pursue gainful employment.
For entry and residence, foreigners generally require a residence title.The German Rectors' Conference offers you a detailed overview of the various residence permits for scientists and scholars from non-EU countries in its leaflet "German Residence Law for Scientists and Academics from Non-EU Countries". You will also find information about the options for accompanying family members.
Citizens from non-EU countries need a visa to enter Germany. To apply for a visa, please contact your local mission abroad .
