Offer for international doctoral candidates since September 2017: English language consultation

Many international doctoral candidates write their doctoral thesis in English. However English is not necessarily your mother tongue. This may mean an additional language challenge next to the scientific research.  Therefore the PhD Networks offers an English language consultation with an English native speaker starting from September 2017.  On the basis of an excerpt of your doctoral thesis your attention will be drawn to frequent linguistic errors and you will get hints for a better style of writing.

The consultation will take place from September to December 2017 in the rooms of the International Office twice per month from 4 till 6.30 pm.

The number of participants is limited. Therefor please send an email to if you would like to register. Please indicate your preferred consultation day as well as your specific question to the English tutor if applicable. Places will be allocated on a First Come, First Served basis.

Upcoming consultation dates in 2017: October 26 / November 9 / November 23 / December 14

Dear International Doctoral Candidates and PostDocs,

Halle is a  town in constant transition. Glass facades arise next to historical  buildings and quite often, the old has to give way to the new. But not  alone the infrastructure is subject to frequent transformation, the  alternation of the seasons and the moving in of new inhabitants are  likewise visible signs of change. We cordially invite you to participate  in our this year’s photo competition. Wherever you discover change in a  very personal way – capture it with one or several photos! Thereby, you  can show us and the other PhDs and PostDocs in Halle your perspective  on the magic and charm of the disappearance and emergence of buildings,  green spaces, neighbourhoods – but also on the shady side of the new and  the old. The three best pictures will be presented and awarded at the  Christmas party of the PhD Network on December 5th, 2017. Entry deadline  is November 1st, 2017. You can download the complete announcement and  the form here:
