"This award is given for outstanding performance and remarkable social commitment," said Ingo Pies, Associate Dean of the Law and Economics Faculty. Minaz  Morshed, who at just 19 years old finished in the third semester, the English-language bachelor's degree in Business and Economics here in Halle, which has a history that shines with excellent performance. "In addition, he has accomplished many things," said Pies. As early as 2008, Morshed was successfully involved in a youth camp in Bangladesh, where sessions were offered in management, among others.
But in Halle, he has worked very actively in the "General Skills (ASQ)" module for "Engagiert.Studiert!" Morshed helps teach children the English language in a playful way, and thereby has proven his social and technical expertise. The DAAD award which is endowed with a thousand euro prize was presented by Dean Pies and Dr. Christian Thimme a DAAD representative.
"The prize for me is a great recognition", said Morshed, adding: "It is not only my own success, but the result of the support of many people who have helped me. I would like to thank you. "With warm applause, the visitors expressed their agreement for the opening ceremony.
The first International week did not only attract numerous interested parties from the college to the audience, but also a partner in the region. With a colorful program for students and scientists based around the theme of "internationalization" the new International Bureau was introduced and displayed its future scope of work that will be responsible for the implementation and development of the internationalization strategy of the university.
The staff of the new International Office of the University is headed by Vice-Rector Gesine Foljanty-Jost.
"The focus is on the University of Halle's interests, the exchange of students and scientists, to expand with foreign partners in over 40 countries and promote," said Prof. Dr. Gesine Foljanty-Jost. "In return, MLU will be presented even more abroad, as an attractive and scientific place to study“. She wants to invite people from academic institutions all over the world to come to the university to study or conduct research. The classification of the new International Office and the Rectorate carries a status as an administrative office of the Vice President for Research and Young Scientists , which is signal of character and should make it clear as to how important the topic  of internationalization  is and show what this part of the administrative board is attributed with. "
The initial response to the International Week was overwhelmingly positive: "I attended the event not only because I'm friends with the winner," said physics student Johannes Rosemann. "I just got a lot of interesting and relevant aspects to  studying abroad. I'm just thinking if I take my master abroad I can use this week's offerings and info to gain more useful experience ."
Professor Dr. Gerd Antos, Dean of the Faculty of Arts II, said: "The Vice President's research has with the new office and the International Week, the necessary conditions to implement the internationalization strategy successfully, the University is doing well." The engineering scientist and former research vice-rector Professor Joachim Ulrich was impressed: "It is an important and necessary action for the university, because good research always has international significance. Without the exchange, there can be no good research."
