Apostille

You can obtain an apostille for documents to be certified (e.g. degree certificates) in the following way:

1) You bring the original of the documents to be certified for which you require an apostille in person or by post to the Legal Office of the University of Halle-Wittenberg (postal address: Martin-Luther-Universität Halle Wittenberg, Stabsstelle Justitariat, Universitätsring 19/20, 06108 Halle (Saale), Germany).

Please also state the residential address to which the documents are to be returned after the apostille has been issued and the name of the country for which you require the authentication of your documents (issue of an apostille).

*To speed up the process, you can send the documents to be certified in advance via e-mail to the Justitariat.

2) The Justitiariat will check the authenticity of the documents and signatures submitted.

3) After the pre-certification has been issued, you can either collect the documents personally from the Justitariat and send them to the State Administration Office in Magdeburg (postal address: Landesvewaltungsamt, Nebenstelle Magdeburg, Hakeborner Straße 1, 39112 Magdeburg, Germany) or hand in the documents personally on site in Magdeburg.

Alternatively, the Justitiariat can send your documents directly to the State Administration Office in Magdeburg by post.

4) The State Administration Office will then issue the apostille for the documents to be certified and send them and the invoice back to you by post to the address you have given.
