A very warm Welcome to our international students!

We cordially invite you to the Central Orientation Day    on 1st October (see below for more information) and to the Welcome Day for international students on 4th October! On this Friday, we will be welcoming our first-semester and exchange students from  abroad. We have also chosen this date because you have no classes on this  Friday and a number of topics are certainly interesting for you! We have arranged  free city tours (book your seat now!) and a varied programme of lectures. So make  sure you drop by!

German language courses for international students at the MLU Language Centre

Study Related German Language Courses in Winter Semester 24/25

The Language Center of MLU offers free German courses for students and employees of MLU on the level A1 to C2, as well as in phonetics. ECTS points are awarded for all courses (exception: phonetics). All ECTS courses end with an exam.

The German courses for international students and employees will start at the Language Center from 14/10/2024. (Course end: 31/01/2025)

Registration for the courses will take place from 01/09-01/10/2024 via Stud.IP. If you do not find the course, please search for the title "Deutsch für internationale Studierende". You can enrol only for one course per semester.

New incoming students who do not yet have a matriculation number or Stud.IP should enrol via registration form "Contactus". The link to this registration form will be published end of August. If you have problems with the registration form you can contact the lecturer via e-mail: or

The last day of registration for all students is 01/10/2024.

New incoming students and students who never studied before at MLU Language Center, are invited to do a 30-minutes-placement test on October, 07 (12pm/noon-2pm Uhr at Hoher Weg 8, Halle-Kröllwitz) and October, 08, (4pm - 6pm at August-Bebel-Str. 13c, second floor, room SR4). This test is mandatory for all new students.

Please note that our courses are limited to a maximum of 16 participants. At the Language Center, we can only accept enrolled students and employees of the Martin Luther University Halle in our courses.

The courses with 10 ECTS are prioritized for program students (Business Economics).

Now open for applications: Degree-scholarships for international students and scholarships for particularly committed international students

International students may now apply for various scholarships financed by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Foreign Office (AA).

The Degree-scholarship is intended to provide financial support to qualified international students in the final phase of their studies; and the scholarship for particularly committed students is intended to honor special commitment in an international context in connection with MLU. The funding period for both scholarships runs from September 2024 to January 2025, and applications must be submitted by July 8, 2024 at 4 p.m. Further information can be found here.

Welcome Day for Internationals

On October 4, our Welcome Day for international students took place at the University of Halle. Incomers received important information and practical tips on starting their studies, especially for Erasmus and exchange students. We are delighted to welcome our new international students to the University of Halle and wish them a successful start to the semester!
