Language Courses

German Language Courses

Before and during their stay in Halle, our international students have the opportunity to improve their German language skills. They can choose between German courses at the University Language Centre or German courses at the Institute for German Language and Culture.

German language courses for international students at the MLU Language Centre

Study Related German Language Courses in Summer Semester 2020

All German courses at the Language Centre start on Apri, 20th as online courses and run regularly until the end of the semester with final examinations.
Registration for the language courses in summer semester 2020 will be done from April 5th onwards via Stud.IP or by e-mail to the lecturers:

After successful registration you will receive an e-mail from your lecturer by April 20th with information on the organisation of the course.

For all courses 5 ECTS (4 SWS) or 10 ECTS points (8SWS) will be awarded. All courses end with an exam at the end of the semester on July 17th, 2020.

German Language Courses at the Institute for German Language and Culture at MLU

The Institute of German Language and Culture offers preparatory German langauge courses, which take place during the lecture-free period, as well as study related German courses, which take place in the evening during the lecture period. The courses take place in Halle and are subject to a course fee.

Covid-19 update:

Starting from May 28th, the German  language courses take place again regularly in the seminar rooms (NEW  ADDRESS: Straße der Opfer des Faschismus 3, 06112 Halle).

Study Related German Language Courses in Summer Semester 2020

The Institute for German Language and Culture e.V. offer additional study related German language courses for levels A2 to C2 during summer semester 2020.

The courses are aimed at all students who want to improve their German language skills.

The courses start with online lessons (live with teacher) and will later be converted into classroom courses.

Language Tandem

In a Language Tandem, two or more people with different cultural backgrounds can work together to improve their knowledge of German as well as gain a higher understanding of their tandem partners' life, language and culture.

Of course, the services and course offers of the University Language Centre and the University Mediathek are free of charge to use for all international students.

In addition, there are German courses offered by the PhD Network of the University or the Institute for German Language and Culture (for these courses a course fee is charged).
