German Language Courses

Before and during their stay in Halle, our international students have the opportunity to improve their German language skills. They can choose between German courses at the University Language Centre or German courses at the Institute for German Language and Culture.

German language courses for international students at the MLU Language Centre

Study Related German Language Courses in Winter Semester 24/25

The Language Center of MLU offers free German courses for students and employees of MLU on the level A1 to C2, as well as in phonetics. ECTS points are awarded for all courses (exception: phonetics). All ECTS courses end with an exam.

The German courses for international students and employees will start at the Language Center from 14/10/2024. (Course end: 31/01/2025)

Registration for the courses will take place from 01/09-01/10/2024 via Stud.IP. If you do not find the course, please search for the title "Deutsch für internationale Studierende". You can enrol only for one course per semester.

New incoming students who do not yet have a matriculation number or Stud.IP should enrol via registration form "Contactus". The link to this registration form will be published end of August. If you have problems with the registration form you can contact the lecturer via e-mail: susanne.schulz@sprachenzentrum.uni-halle.de or frank.schulze@sprachenzentrum.uni-halle.de.

The last day of registration for all students is 01/10/2024.

New incoming students and students who never studied before at MLU Language Center, are invited to do a 30-minutes-placement test on October, 08 and October, 09, at 04:00 pm (August-Bebel-Str. 13c, second floor, room SR4). This test is mandatory for all new students.

Please note that our courses are limited to a maximum of 16 participants. At the Language Center, we can only accept enrolled students and employees of the Martin Luther University Halle in our courses.

The courses with 10 ECTS are prioritized for program students (Business Economics).

Language Tandem Project of the MLU Language Center

Since December 2020, the MLU Language Center has been offering a new Language Tandem Project for MLU students: https://www.sprachenzentrum.uni-halle.de/2334618_3355387/

Students who are interested in a language tandem can contact the MLU Language Center via e-mail at: tandem@sprachenzentrum.uni-halle.de, indicating the language they would like to practice and deepen in tandem with a native speaker.

German Language Courses at the Institute for German Language and Culture at MLU

The Institute of German Language and Culture and Martin-Luther-Universität offer study-preparatory summer courses in summer 2024. Information can be found here.

Moreover, IDSK offers the possibility to learn German in intensive online German courses. More information about the online courses can be found here. Please note that students have to cover the costs by themselves.

Writing Workshop

The "Schreibwerkstatt" is offered for students by students of German studies. For any kind of support with your seminar papers, contact johannes.ennenbach@student.uni-halle.de or join the course on studIP here.

The consultation hours usually take place on Mondays 14-17pm.
