PhD Round Table

13.01.2020: This open meeting invites all PhD students and postdocs from here and  abroad to one of the bars and pubs in Halle`s inner city. In an  informal, relaxed setting you can share your experiences as an academic  in Halle and get to know your colleagues from around the world. The PhD Stammtisch usually meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 8 pm in changing locations.

Next PhD Round Table:

The next Round Table will take place on Wednesday, the 04th of March 2020. Place: Cafè Nöö, Große Klausstraße 11, 06108 Halle (Saale)

Info Seminar: Funding possibilities for the postdoctoral phase

01.12.2018: On 11 December the International Office and "EU-Hochschulnetzwerk"  organize an informational seminar about funding possibilities for  international doctoral candidates who will finish their doctorate soon  or who received their doctoral degree not longer than two years ago.

04 December International Christmas Party

01.12.2018: We are happy to invite you to our annual international Christmas party.  The Christmas party will take place on Tuesday, 04 December, from 7:30  pm on in the "Hallischer Saal", Universitätsring 5 (1st Floor). There will be snacks and drinks, and we also prepared a small  program for you. We are looking forward to spend a cosy evening with you  and with plenty of opportunity for you to get to know more  international PhD students from Halle. We look forward to see you on the  4th of December.

01.12.2018: Welcome to Germany`s capital Berlin! On this excursion we will  explore the governmental disctrict. After that, we stroll through one of  the most beautiful christmas markets of the city and if you like, you  can do a few laps on the ice.

Winter semester 2018/19: German language courses for international doctoral candidates, postdocs and their partners

In the upcoming semester, the PhD Network will German language  courses at levels A1 to C1 for international doctoral candidates, postdocs  and their partners. The classes are run by experienced teachers and take  place twice a week in the evening.

Call for proposals: Grants for foreign female students at the final stage of their PhD

01.06.2018: Call for proposals: Grants for foreign female students at the final stage of their PhD

The Prorectorate for Structure and Strategic Development awards grants for female PhD students of the Martin-Luther-University, starting 1st October 2018. Financial support is only possible for foreign female  students for up to 6 months; an extension for up to additional 6 months  can be possible in serious cases of hardship.

At the time of  application, candidates are required to be at the final stage of their  PhD and they must be enrolled as students at the Martin-Luther-University.  Their stay must be temporary for the purpose of their PhD studies, with  existential insecurity towards the final stage of their PhD (for  example because of a contract or grant expiring). Also, it is required  that the candidate performed well and the completion of the PhD thesis  is realistic within the period of support. A supporting statement of the  PhD advisor must be included in the application.

The deadline for applications is 22th June 2018, and applications should be made to:

New Guide for Doctoral Candidates

01.04.2018: We are happy to announce Halle University has a new bilingual Guide for Doctoral Candidates!
You can download it here or you can pick up a hard copy in the Internatioal Office during office hours.
The Guide contains useful basics to obtain a doctorate at MLU, advisory and support services offered at the University and many information about living in Halle.
