German Language Courses

Martin Luther University Halle also has a language center where enrolled students, PhD students, guest students and employees can take a variety of language courses, including courses in Chinese, Italian, English and Russian. These courses usually take place in the mornings and registration takes place on the Stud-IP platform.

These language courses also include courses from beginner to advanced level in which you can learn German as a foreign language. For the first time in the summer semester 2024, the Language Center will offer a German course for doctoral students with the support of the International Office. This is organized for enrolled students or guest students of MLU, is designed for level A2/B1, is free of charge and takes place on Thursdays from 16:00 to 20:00. In the coming semesters, if there is sufficient demand, the range of German courses designed for doctoral students will be further expanded.

PhD students who have a different level can also take part in one of the other German as a foreign language courses. Course registration for the summer semester 2024 is already closed, but if you are looking for more information on the full range of courses and current news from the Language Center, you can find it here.

If you are not sure what level of German you have and which course would be suitable for you, you can take the free placement test from Cornelsen online.
